The music video for Tim Knol’s When I Am King uses a combination of stop motion and pyrography, or the soldering of images onto wood, to create a very new and unique look that works quite well for the desired effect:

Drift is a short that combines digital stills into a stop motion animation, but in a way that I’ve never seen done before. It’s rather hard to describe, so I suggest that you watch it and see what I mean:

Memoirs of a Scanner is a short film that was shot entirely on the bed of a Canon scanner, one scan at a time. Despite those limitations (or perhaps because of them) the story is rather interesting, and makes you wonder just what the scanners of the world are privy to exactly:

SNASK is a stop motion video made with 1846 photos that took just under four days to shoot. As I’m sure you’ll agree though, that was time well spent:

LEGO’s CL!CK is a fantastic short about the power of big ideas. With stop motion animation, little toy bricks and an amazing mustache all combined together into one film, it’s a win all around:

If all books read themselves in a kick-ass voice and animated their story using a mix of stop motion and paper craft, I’m guessing I’d probably read more!

Field Notes are memo books “worth fillin’ up with good information”. One way to order them is through a yearly subscription, which includes a new color every three months, and to celebrate the first year of Field Notes COLORS, Coudal Partners put together a pretty cool stop motion video that shows one year of Field Notes memo books transitioning through the seasons:

This 8-Bit Trip stop motion Lego video has been all over the Internet recently, so if you happen to have missed it until now, prepare yourself for awesome:

Scintillation uses 35,000 photos and a technique called live projection mapping to create a beautiful experimental film that is hard to describe, but must be seen.

Looking Thru The B-Sides is an AWESOME stop motion short that follows the adventures of a skater named “ollie” as he is off on a quest to find his lost skateboard. What starts off as a casual trip to the skatepark, turns into a wild trip down the rabbit hole and ends up in a way that Alice In Wonderland could never imagine.

The PEN Story is similar to Stop Motion with Wolf and Pig in that it uses a series of photos to tell a story, and does everything with a sort of stop motion/animation hybrid that works quite well when done correctly. In The PEN Story, 60,000 pictures were shot, 9,600 prints were developed, and 1,800 pictures had to be shot again, and the result is a great story that uses zero post production to make it all work.

SLOW is one artist’s “attempt to use stop motion and it’s different time layers to express my perception of time”. It’s beautiful in its simplicity, and definitely worth a watch:

Tom Wrigglesworth created a fantastic spot for HP Invent that uses HP printers as “an orchestra in an aesthetic symphony conducted by HP Workstations.” In less artsy speak, Tom created a kick-ass stop motion movie that uses printed pages to create each frame. Deadline is a fantastic stop-motion movie about one artist’s fight with post-it notes and deadlines:

Everything was shot over the course of four days, and they used more than 6,000 post-it notes to pull off the effect:

Take one wall, let nine different graffiti artists go at it with one artist’s work going on top of the next, and the result is Time Bomb, a fascinating video that looks at the evolution of a wall as DMOTE, Kid Zoom, Ben Frost, Numskull, Roach, John Doe, Creon, Bennett and KissKiss each do their thing:

Sorry I’m Late is a fantastic stop motion from Tomas Mankovsky that tells the tale of one man’s journey home and his harrowing adventures along the way.
